Do not lose your parking ticket.
If you're not staying in an MGM Resorts hotel, you won't have convenience of flashing your room key. That being said, keep your ticket in a safe place. If you happen to lose your ticket, the staff will try and determine how long you were parked on property. In the case they can't, you'll be charged with a lost ticket parking fee of $30.
Self-parking fees vary by property and length of stay.
If you're staying or visiting Luxor, Excalibur and Monte Carlo, it's $5 (one to four hours) and $8 (four to 24 hours). Parking is $8 each additional day. For MGM Grand and Skylofts, Mandalay Bay and Delano, New York-New York, Aria, Bellagio and The Mirage, it's $7 (one to four hours) and $10 (four to 24 hours). Parking is $10 each additional day. If you're a guest, you can also charge the parking fees to your room bill.
There are still ways to self-park for free.
If you're visiting a hotel for less than an hour, it's free. You can also self-park for free if you're an M Life Rewards member with Pearl status or higher and valet for free if you are an M Life Rewards member with Gold status or higher. Locals are getting a temporary reprieve (more on that later).
Circus-Circus waives its self-parking fee.
If you're staying at this hotel, you won't have to fork over dough for self-parking. However, you'll need to pay for valet. Additionally, if you're traveling to other MGM Resorts properties, you'll still have to pay the specific parking fees we mentioned earlier.
Paid parking at downtown hotels is different from MGM Resorts.
If you're visiting downtown hotel parking garages, most registered hotel guests park free and validation is offered for other visitors if you meet certain criteria (eat in a restaurant, etc). See a complete description of parking rules by property here.
New York New York Hotel & Casino
Valet parking has its own set of prices.
Valet parking will cost more than self-parking. If you're staying at Monte Carlo, Luxor, Excalibur and Circus-Circus, it's $13 a day. If you're staying at Bellagio, Aria, Vdara, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Delano, Mirage or New York-New York, it's $18 a day. However, if you're only staying for part of the day, you'll pay a reduced rate. And don't forget: If you're a registered MGM Resorts hotel guest, you have in-out privileges to valet at multiple properties. You won't have to pay more than once in a 24-hour period. (Side note: Tipping valet is still proper etiquette. We'll leave the amount to your discretion.)
If you're a local, you won't have to pay… yet.
Locals with a valid Nevada driver's license can still self-park for free until Dec. 29, 2016. You'll be prompted to scan your license upon entry. Keep in mind that complimentary self-parking is subject to availability and also doesn't apply during special events (like a T-Mobile Arena concert). Also, this doesn't apply to valet parking; you'll still need to front money for that.
